Before Shamrock Shakes became a big thing, Brodie Mountain ski area in Western Massachusetts would grab headlines every St. Patrick’s Day for its famous festivities. While it had become one of the most popular ski areas around in the 1970s, growth was halted in the 1980s, leading to a period of decline in the 1990s before its eventual closing in 2002. Gone are the days of green snow, green beer, and free skiing for anyone named ‘Kelly.’
